Dear colleagues,
ALA Core's Catalog Management Interest Group is looking for two volunteers to serve as co-vice chairs for the 2026-2027 term.
The Catalog Management Interest Group discusses the various issues involved in cataloging, classification, authority control, and metadata application after the initial cataloging has been performed, including its impact on discovery, and provides a forum for exchanging information and discussing techniques, new developments, and problems with managing the data integrity of library catalogs and related discovery tools.
ALA website: https://www.ala.org/core/member-center/interest-groups/catalog-management
ALA Connect: https://connect.ala.org/core/communities/community-home?CommunityKey=c7047171-cc88-4f95-ab89-00f22146ffeb
The co-vice chairs are expected to participate in session planning and delivery, including solicitation for speakers and selection of topics to be presented during the ALA Core Interest Group Week, filing reports to ALA, and selecting incoming chairs. Attendance at ALA Annual Conferences is desirable and encouraged, but not required. Although ALA Core membership is required, no prior IG experience is necessary. The co-vice chairs will serve a two-year term: one year as co-vice chairs (July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027) and one year as chairs (July 1, 2027 - June 30, 2028).
If you are interested in working with the IG, please submit your name and a brief statement of interest via the Google Form by June 5, 2026: https://forms.gle/nrrdEWjxgo4DGjBD7
We look forward to hearing from you!
