Dear Colleagues,
At our last "Big Heads" meeting on November 17, 2021 there was robust conversation about the direction the group would like to take the committee. This is an opportune time given the launch of the Core division of ALA, which changes the organizational context of the Technical Services Directors of Large Research Libraries Committee. Moreover, the context of virtual meetings has shifted the long-standing patterns for how the group interacts among ourselves and with the community as a whole. There was substantial appreciation for the opportunity to work with colleagues in similar contexts, and a desire expressed for more definitive outcomes.
We invite volunteers to form a subcommittee to draft guiding documents for the group, and to consider changes to the charge and membership. These latter responsibilities may not be formally concluded, but we'd appreciate the initial conversation to determine if pursuing changes are warranted. The goal would be to present these to the whole committee at a meeting in May or June, 2022. If you interested in serving please let me know by February 11, 2022.
