Best of Core Forum: Python for Data Visualization

    Date: Wednesday, April 10, 2024

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.

Description: Python is a powerful, open-source, and popular programming language with a wide variety of applications in and out of libraries. Whether you’re presenting usage information or data from your own research, python can help transform your data from numbers into data visualizations, such as graphs, that can be shared with coworkers, administration, and publishers. Unlike software such as excel, python script can be shared and reused once written, providing you with the ability to add transparency and reproducibility to your processes and research.

In this workshop, we’ll cover everything you need to know to create these data visualizations – no previous experience required!

    Learning outcomes:

At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:

    • Describe the origin of Python

    • Use Python variables, functions, and other coding fundamentals

    • Create data visualizations using Python

    Who should attend?

Anyone interested in learning Python from scratch, reinforcing material learned previously, or learning a new programming language.

    Presenter:

Paige Scudder is a Research & Instruction Librarian at Tufts University.
