  • 1.  barcode label printers & label software

    Reposting this from November 2021...

    Hello all!

To help and identify the location for trays and archival materials in our shared collections facility, we print barcode labels and place them on the trays & boxes.

We still have the SATO 8400 barcode printer that we received in 1995!  It is still working great but the IT department recommends that we replace it because of the constant Windows upgrades.  I am sad about it but we need to keep up with the technology!

We are looking for a replacement and I am wondering if any of you could share what you are using to print barcode labels.   Pros & cons?  My supervisor found this one...

Also, we are using Label Matrix...again, since 1995.  I am curious what label software you are using to create barcode labels.

    Many thanks! :)

    Hi,

While we just print spine labels at our library (we order barcodes from The Library Corp.) we've used a Zebra for the last couple of years, and we've never had an issue with them. Dymo though, sheesh.

Hi Tammy -- we recently purchased a ZEBRA ZT411 (https://www.barcodesinc.com/zebra/zt411.htm) for use in our facility to print the tray labels. We also use LabelMatrix as our label making software.
