Day : Friday, November 1, 2024
Time : 1 - 2 pm Eastern / 12 - 1 pm Central / 11 am - 12 pm Mountain / 10 am - 11 am Pacific
Join the Core Faceted Subject Access Interest Group in an online discussion about Library of Congress Demographic Group Terms (LCDGT), a controlled vocabulary used to record demographic group information. The Library of Congress has manuals about how to use these terms to describe audience characteristics and creator characteristics in bibliographic records as well as how to use these terms in name authority records. Our guiding questions for this discussion will focus on application of LCDGT, ethical concerns, the MARC 385 field for audience characteristics, the MARC 386 field for creator/contributor characteristics, and how these terms are displayed and indexed in online library catalogs. Learn about how other attendees are using this vocabulary, contribute your thoughts and/or experience, and ask your own questions about LCDGT to other attendees.
This session will not be recorded.
