    Hi everyone,

Thanks again for joining us this past week for another great conversation regarding training for employees. Here is a summary of what we discussed and we look forward to our May meeting!

    • We discussed ways to share information once the training or professional development opportunity has happened
      • Ideas include sending out a blog post or something in a newsletter, holding sharing sessions, hosting open houses to share ideas and what the team is working on, or hosting a training day where everyone can attend
    • We also talked about what topics are of interest for folks, with AI being something that many libraries are exploring
    • We discussed how to ensure that employees, particularly staff, are not over extended and that we are keeping in mind workloads and duties as opposed to faculty who might have more flexibility and requirements for tenure or other duties. There were also some other thoughts shared related to an opposite idea-that sometimes employees don't attend training opportunities perhaps due to the same issues around workloads and capacity
    • We talked about the connection between training or professional development and promotion or advancement and how does it relate to annual evaluations as well as what career growth opportunities an institution offers
    • Providing fiscal support is an ongoing challenge especially as it relates to conference and travel costs vs virtual opportunities
