AI in Public Libraries - draft policies for staff

  • 1.  AI in Public Libraries - draft policies for staff

I'm tasked with finding draft / example policies for the use of Artificial Intelligence in public libraries, specifically for the use of staff within their scope of work.  Examples of the types policies we are interested in seeing would be:

    • When staff are permitted to use AI within their scope of work?
    • When it would be inappropriate to use AI within staff's scope of work?
    • Use of AI in answering reference questions - how, when, and to what extent would this be permitted?
    • Use of AI in the creation of deliverables, such as presentations, white papers, statistics, etc.
    • Anything else to add?

If you have internal policies  to share, or if ALA has documents to guide in these types of questions, I would greatly appreciate the help.

    Thanks so much,

    Emily
