Clemson University Libraries seeks an experienced, dynamic leader to serve as our inaugural Associate Dean for Organizational Performance and Inclusion. This division supports the success of Libraries' employees and the well-being of the organization. The name of the position recognizes the importance of leadership in two key areas: supporting individual and organizational development, and sustaining a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion. This position would also oversee the work of leaders in other administration areas: information technology infrastructure, marketing and communications, facilities/learning environments, personnel, strategic planning, and assessment.
This is a new position created as part of a recent reorganization, aligning Clemson with our R1 peers. The successful candidate would be one of three new associate deans who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Libraries and setting the Libraries' strategic directions as a member of its Senior Leadership Team. Clemson Libraries seeks to provide an inclusive environment for all members of the Clemson community and aspires to be a national leader in EDI. Plans are also in motion for a renovation of Cooper Library, a campus centerpiece, in the next 5-10 years.
Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, this is a 12-month administrative faculty position with faculty rank and status. As a member of the Libraries' faculty, the successful candidate will pursue an active and ongoing program of research, service, and professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures a healthy work environment for all employees through the development of clear communication channels, an inclusive organizational culture, and a learning organization which encourages ongoing employee development.
- Leads and facilitates equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts with an emphasis on sustained action and cultural transformation. Includes oversight of the Libraries' EDI committee and its Library Resident program.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates recruitment, onboarding, and retention programs for employees and student assistants
- Leads Libraries' strategic planning efforts.
- Monitors trends and developments in organizational development and EDI, as well as other areas of oversight.
- With the Head of IT infrastructure, implements and manages library systems.
- With the Director of Marketing and Communications, fosters the development of the Libraries' brand and shares stories of the Libraries' impact on student success and faculty research.
- With the Director of Learning Environments, manages the Libraries' facilities, including space planning and renovations.
- With the Assessment Librarian, develops an ongoing assessment program for the Libraries.
- Manages and supports the development of 6 direct reports.
- Brings members of the new division together to create a cohesive team.
- Serves as a member of the Libraries' Senior Leadership Team.
- With the other associate deans, serves as the dean in his/her absence.

- Develops a focused program of high-quality research and creative accomplishments, consistent with professional responsibilities and the Libraries' mission and goals.
Service:
- Actively participates and demonstrates leadership in professional responsibilities that serve the Libraries, University, profession, and community.
Salary and Benefits
Faculty rank and competitive salary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Minimum $110,000. Various medical plans, dental plans, and retirement plans are available. 18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and liberal professional development leave are provided. Library faculty receive an individual stipend for travel or other professional development activity.
