About this Group

Purpose: Provides a forum for discussion of issues related to Linked Library Data and the role of library metadata in the Semantic web. Goals include: raising awareness of Semantic Web technologies, such as the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the use of URIs as identifiers within bibliographic descriptions; promoting research on linked data challenges, such as domain modeling and vocabulary selection and design; and informing the ongoing development of existing metadata standards for Libraries, Archives and Cultural Heritage Institutions.

    Event: Linked Library Data IG business meeting at Midwinter 2014


    When: Saturday, January 25, 10:30-11:30 AM


    Description: The LITA/ALCTS Linked Library Data IG will hold its bi-annual business meeting at the ALA Midwinter 2014 conference as part of the LITA all committees meeting on Saturday, January 25, 10:30-11:30 AM, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, room 113 ABC. Somewhere in there you'll can locate our table.


     


    The main topics of conversation for the meeting will be:  (1) Welcome and introductions; (2)reports/announcements/past events; (3) upcoming events that are scheduled; (4) upcoming events that are possible but not scheduled; (5) search for a new co-chair to begin a 2 year term after ALA Annual; (6) open discussion, focusing on how people can get involved with the IG.


     


    All are welcome to participate.
