  • 1.  Library Consultants in Vegas?

I'm interested in learning more about how to become a library consultant and remembered that there were individual meetings available at the last annual conference, but I don't see anything like that this time. Is that something that might be repeated in the future? And/or, where can I go to meet consultants at ALA? I'm thinking of going to ASCLA 101. I know there's also a session on becoming a consultant after retirement, but I'm an early career librarian/mid career professional overall. I'd love to talk more with anyone who might be interested in helping me out. Thanks!

    Hi Sara,

I am also interested in meeting other library consultants at annual. Perhaps we could plan an informal meet up if there is nothing officially offered by ASCLA? Please feel free to email me at deanagreenfield@ gmail.com - I'm also an early career/mid career professional :)

What’s on ASCLA’s menu for Midwinter 2015 in Chicago?  I’m not yet sure if I’m going (I’m in Philly and it’s not a cheap trip), but if something enticing to a prospective consultant (retiring from my current job in 371 days, five hours and 18 minutes, but who’s counting) is planned, I’d like to!  I love Chicago and went there and back by train a couple of years ago (for SLA); another such trip would be fun.

    Barbara,

The Consultants Interest Group will sponsor a Consultants Networking Luncheon on Saturday at Midwinter. This will include some structured program and lots of time for networking.  The Interest Group will also have a short organizational meeting on Sunday afternoon after the ASCLA All Committee meeting -- watch the updated conference schedule for more details.
