Hello, everyone,
At our Zoom meeting last Wednesday, the participants agreed that if ALA Annual 2022 is in-person, they would like to see Ebooks Friday come back. What is Ebooks Friday? For several years before the pandemic, this group reserved a room for most of the Friday before the conference for first us and then other interested groups to meet. ReadersFirst, SimplyE, etc. held open forums that anyone interested in library digital discussion groups could attend to meet others, keep up with happenings, and plan activities/advocacy.
The call for pre-conference meetings hasn't come yet When it does, I shall ask for a room.
If you would like to have a digital-content related meeting for a certain group of stakeholders-for example, consortial ebooks interest members, Joint Digital Content Working Group, whatever-let me know and we'll get something scheduled.
We'll plan for this group to meet that day. If the conference is in-person, we shall still try to offer a virtual attendance option since a number of people have raised concerns about getting funding to attend in-person
All best,
Michael
