    The Role of Professional Librarians in Technical Services Interest Group (RPLTS IG) of Core seeks facilitators for face-to-face roundtable discussions for its session at the 2022 ALA Annual Conference that will take place on Sunday, June 26th, 3-4 pm.

    Housed within the Core division of ALA, the Role of Professional Librarians in Technical Services Interest Group  was created to provide a forum to discuss common issues surrounding the role of professional librarians in technical services and professional activities such as training, project management, research, assessment, supervision, or hiring in the technical services area of academic research libraries.

    Roundtable discussions are small, informal group discussions intended to give participants the opportunity to network, discuss best practices, and share information. Discussion facilitators are responsible for identifying and developing a topic, creating discussion questions, facilitating a discussion and sharing back to larger group. If similar proposals are submitted and accepted, facilitators may be asked to co-facilitate.

    Those interested in participating as a discussion facilitator should submit a proposal that includes:

      *   The topic you wish to explore. Topics should relate to the role of professional librarians in technical services (hiring, supervision, staff evaluation, training, management, assessment) in academic libraries

      *   An abstract which explains the topic and its importance.

      *   Three sample discussion questions

    To help you formulate a discussion proposal, here are some suggested topics:

      *   Cross-departmental collaboration and building relationships outside of Technical Services

      *   Conducting technical services related research

      *   Staff development and administrative mentorship

      *   Team building within Technical Services departments

      *   Core competencies for technical services staff and cataloging education

      *   Hiring in technical services

    Please submit your proposal at https://forms.gle/WRfVyRdvwcMdzXxX8 by May 15, 2022
