Purpose: Discusses the various collection development and collection management issues of concern to large research libraries, especially issues affecting diverse collections that support a broad spectrum of instructional, research, and cultural programs. Provide sa forum for the exchange of information on new developments, techniques, challenges, and opportunities in managing library collections, as well as seeking opportunities for collaboration and cooperation to increase the effectiveness and efficiencies of support for our institutions.

    Director of Collection Development


    The Binghamton University Libraries seeks a collaborative and innovative Director of Collection Development to provide leadership and coordination for developing, managing and evaluating the Libraries' collections, both physical and virtual, that support the University's research and teaching mission. The incumbent is responsible for the Libraries' collection budget, formulating strategic collections planning, coordinating collection development policies and managing collections projects. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to engage with new modes of collection building such as open access, collaborative and evidence-based purchasing, and contribute to projects including exciting renovations that provide opportunities to move collections and redefine spaces.
