I support the Dean and four Associate Deans of JMU Libraries in communications, projects, events, and many "other duties as assigned." No day is the same for me and I love getting to work with nearly every single member of Libraries, and with many others across campus, in my job.
I received my MA in 2017 in English Literature from JMU (foci: literatures of Afrofuturism and of the Anthropocene), and my MLIS in December 2019 from the University of South Carolina (foci: academic libraries and library leadership).
My research interests broadly include (but are not limited to!): Academic library leadership; #critlib; diversity, equity, access, and inclusion issues as they relate to the academic library; climate change and the Anthropocene vis-a-vis the academic library; staff/non-tenure track academic library workers who engage in "professional" activities such as research and higher degrees; interdisciplinary service leadership in academic library and higher ed administration; Afrofuturist literature; feminist ethics of care; and the positive effects on therapy dogs on university campuses. (Ask me about my therapy dog!)
I'm a creative ENFJ who loves good travel, good stories, good food, the great outdoors, and my two good dogs.
