Hey everyone!
We're excited to announce the next Access Services Interest Group Virtual Forum will be March 26th at 2pm EST!
Join us for a presentation by and Q&A Elliot Kuecker entitled Wrestling with Ethical Student Labor in Academic Libraries.
Register here! https://ala-events.zoom.us/meeting/register/XzXBeVjRTDerCoPuOCSS2Q#/registration
Before the forum, be sure to check out Kuecker's article Ideology and Rhetoric of Undergraduate Student Workers in Academic Libraries<http://www.progressivelibrariansguild.org/PL/PL46/050kuecker.pdf>, which inspired my team to revise our entire program for part time staff and improve working conditions for all information professionals in the department of Access Services & Delivery at FSU Libraries.
BIO: Elliott Kuecker is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked in libraries-- at University of Florida, Emory University, and University of Georgia-- for ten years before becoming an instructor in a library school and frequently researched and published as a practitioner, often focusing on aspects of his daily work that he felt deserved more interrogation.
Excited for the conversation!
