The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hello fellow SRRT members!

Bring your own caffeine by 9 AM to McCormick Place, W 183 A to participate in, "Elders Deserve Social Justice Too: Challenging Ageism Towards Older Adults Through Libraries, Communities, and ALA."

This intergenerational panel of researchers and practicing librarians will provide action efforts you can take in your work, workplace relationships, and broader field to best serve the fastest demographic in the United States (and much of the world): people 65 and older.

In addition to great resources and a chance to meet other library professionals interested in serving older adults, there will be bookmarks, stickers, and ribbons, oh my! (And a few t-shirts too.)

We hope to see you then!
