SRRT (Social Responsibilities Round Table)

The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    SRRT Action Council meeting coming up - All SRRT members are welcome and encouraged to attend!

    Hello all,

    Hope you had a restful weekend.

    This began at last month's meeting, but just a reminder for this week: based on recent SRRT member and Action Council feedback, in the interest of improving transparency, and creating more space for all who are doing work under SRRT's umbrella, I'm trying something new with our meeting agenda. I'd like to give each task force representative, liaison, etc. a chance to report on activities and business coming from their corner of SRRT, and I've done my best to mark each role/individual who is eligible to vote.

    Here (and below) is a link to the agenda, and below is the Zoom info for the SRRT Action Council meeting, scheduled for this coming Wednesday, April 9, at 1:30 PM Atlantic / 12:30 PM Eastern / 11:30 AM Central / 10:30 AM Mountain / 9:30 AM Pacific. (See the end of this message for a listing of the expected schedule for upcoming meetings, through June 2025.)

    Any agenda omissions or errors are entirely unintentional - please let me know if anything needs to be corrected and I'll be sure to do so for our meeting. Especially if I've neglected to mark a voting member, or misidentified a vote!

    As usual, our agenda is likely to take our full hour & a half. Out of respect for one another, as well as our limited time together, please remember to share the floor. I will ask that remarks generally be kept to 2 minutes, and that if you've already spoken, to wait until everyone else has had a chance to do so before speaking again. During discussions please remember to use the virtual "raise hand" feature in Zoom.

    If you have pressing new business to be addressed that can't otherwise be covered in your regular report, let me know and it can be added to the agenda as time permits, or you can bring it up during the "any other new business?" portion of our meeting.
