The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Fair elections are threatened by misinformation, disinformation, intimidation and threats of violence. In this turbulent environment, the 2024 U.S. election has the potential to shape the world for many years to come.

    Join the ALA Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) and Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) as we discuss ways for librarians and libraries to combat voter suppression in an age of rampant disinformation.

    Topics include voting & election toolkits, helping your patrons discern misinformation/disinformation, and promoting civic literacy through forums/educational discussions.
