The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hi everyone,

This past summer at the ALA annual conference SRRT showed a clip of the film "Boycott" at our program on anti-boycott legislation. Now you'll have a chance to view the entire film online (for free), by registering here: BOYCOTT | Voices from the Holy Land - film series. You can watch the film any time between Oct. 5 and 9, and then join a live discussion on Oct. 9 at 4 PM Eastern time. Speakers will include:

    • Peter Beinart: Editor-at-Large, Jewish Currents; Professor of Journalism and Political Science, Newmark School of  Journalism, CUNY; Publisher, The Beinart Newsletter
    • Jen Marlowe -  author, filmmaker, playwright, journalist, and human rights activist.
    • Bahia Amawi - speech pathologist, plaintiff in anti-BDS legislation lawsuit against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Pflugerville ISD.
    • Mnar Adley (moderator) - Editor-in-Chief, MintPress News

Also, at the same time you might want to get on the mailing list for the Voices from the holy Land Film Salon. They show excellent films monthly for free with great live discussions.

    Best,

    Tom
