The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Union Contracts with Family Benefits Language

  • 1.  Union Contracts with Family Benefits Language

I am the Chair of my county's DEIA Committee. Each month we are reading a short article or excerpt together and discussing it. One of our members recently requested that we read a piece about how employers can support employees with families. I thought this would be a good opportunity to highlight union contracts that have strong language around paid parental leave, dependent benefits, childcare, etc.

If you are aware of any contracts that have language around this issue, please send them my way!
