The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hi SRRT Community,

Sandy Berman, longtime SRRT member and recent Herb Biblo award winner, sent a tribute to Maurice "Mitch" Freedman via the ALA Offices this past week. I've attached a scanned PDF of his message and few pictures. As part of the 150th celebrations, there is a digital memorial site managed by the Library History Round Table for folks to submit messages as part of the "Librarians We Have Lost" project, if anyone has a relationship with Sandy and wants to see if he'd like to submit this tribute to the memorial, please reach out to him.

If this PDF is not accessible to you, please let me know and I can send a word version of the tribute directly.
