The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

My local public library has been under near constant attack in the last two years and my gut says it's just a matter of time before these groups start looking at academic libraries as closely as they do public and schools. I already have two friends at academic libraries that are having their libraries' social media accounts being watched for "liberal agendas," particularly anything LGBTQ+ related.

Excuse me, but I am a new member and visual artist.  I am deeply worried when ideas are not debated but are eliminated.  My current series is Banned Books and Bullets. A simple format using a 1" x1.5' format on a wood panel, I am creating for each Classic Banned Book a piece.   I am wondering how I might inform the ALA since I am using there lists for the Classics to promote the protection of libraries.

I live in NYC and the attack was covered on PBS.  We are in dangerous times with the Hungarian President being held up as a model for 21st century fascism.
