The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

  • 1.  Technical question on renewing membership

    Posted 2 days ago
Has anyone else had a hard time in renewing their SRRT membership? I just renewed my ALA membership, and usually it is very easy and the software remembers your affiliations. But not this time, the software remembered my membership type and another round table, but not SRRT. Then I had a hard time figuring out where to add SRRT back. In the end, it gave me 2 separate receipts, one for my general membership plus one round table and the other only for SRRT. This is very odd, and almost seems like the software was programmed to make it hard to renew membership in SRRT. I am not saying that is the case, but this experience makes me wonder what else is going wrong in ALA that we don't know about?

Yes! Me too! I kept having to add it. Maybe because $$ goes to a different ALA pot?

And further, I just realized that the software usually asks about giving to other ALA initiatives like the Spectrum Scholarships to which I always send something. But that didn't happen either.
