The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Greetings all,

    Here are the latest large round table membership statistics as of February 2026. I am sorry to report that SRRT has dropped below 1000 members, down 10.79% for the past year. On a percentage basis, SRRT had the largest drop in membership of this group.

    The only large round tables to gain membership over the past year are the Intellectual Freedom Round Table (6.99%) and the Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table (1.02%).

    We need to find one or two volunteers to take on the SRRT Membership Committee, which currently has no members. I agreed to continue compiling and sending these reports until the end of my term on the Action Council after the ALA Annual Conference in June.
