The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Dear SRRT colleagues,

    I'm writing to urge SRRT members to attend tomorrow's Special Meeting of the SRRT Action Council, to be held on Zoom, where two issues of direct an d urgent importance to the membership will be taken up: upcoming ALA elections, including potential write-in candidates, and pending resolutions that were not reached in full at the last meeting.

    These are matters that go to the heart of SRRT's democratic life and political role. While only Action Council members may vote, all SRRT members are welcome to attend, observe, and be present as these discussions unfold. Member presence matters, especially when questions of elections, representation, and resolutions are on the table.

    The meeting will not be recorded, so the only way to stay fully informed is to attend live.
