The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    The SRRT International Responsibilities Task Force (IRTF) will be meeting next Monday, March 17 at 2 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Central, 12 noon Mountain, 11 a.m. Pacific). All SRRT members are invited to join and participate.

    Agenda, with approximate times indicated so we can keep the meeting to about one hour:

    1. The "SRRT as Radical Caucus" proposal that's been the subject of intense discussion recently on SRRT Connect. (10 mins)

    2. The intensifying crackdown on student protest and academic freedom on the university campuses where many of us work, and how SRRT/ALA is responding. (20 mins)

    3. Program ideas for upcoming conferences and/or online programs. (15 mins)

    4. Future directions for IRTF. (15 mins)
