The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

  • 1.  SRRT Ballot Updates!

    Posted 7 hours ago

Hello SRRT Members! By now you should have received your ballot for ALA's annual election. As you'll see we only had one candidate submit a nomination before the deadline: Derek Wilmott Montoya, running for another term as Treasurer In my personal opinion he has done a fantastic job so far! Thank you for your candidacy, Derek!

You'll see that there are no candidates listed for Coordinator or for Secretary, and write in options for both. As some of you may recall, a few weeks ago I posted a request for people interested in running as write in candidates. I've received two:

For Coordinator: Metadata management librarian Yelena Gordiyenko of the Auraria Library at University of Colorado, Denver.

For Secretary: retired school librarian and PLG co-founder Elaine Harger.

As you complete your ballots please consider writing in these two candidates for their respective offices.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to serve next year!

Thanks for posting this, Tara, and I am delighted to see that someone stepped up for the coordinator position. Olivia and I will work with whomever is elected to ensure a smooth transition and ample support going forward. Appreciate the work you did on recruitment and Derek and Elaine for their willingness to serve.
