The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

We do not have any pressing business for this Friday's Action Council meeting. I'm sure we'll have plenty for our May meeting, but I thought we could all use a small change of pace before then. So, instead of a traditional meeting, let's have a short social visit.

Action Council members: I would like everyone to introduce themselves since it's been a while and to briefly talk about your interests/research areas and if there's anything you'd like to brag about. If you represent a task force, please talk about that as well and what your task force is working on.

I will also come up with some interactive questions that everyone can participate in. Hope to see you there!
