I want to express my deep gratitude to all of you for the passage of the two resolutions I had the privilege to propose-opposing U.S. military intervention in Venezuela and Iran, and condemning ICE raids, state violence, and the criminalization of journalism and protest.
Resolutions do not pass on authorship alone. They move because members read them closely, debate them seriously, strengthen them through discussion, and ultimately stand behind them. What we accomplished was collective. The clarity, integrity, and resolve that SRRT brought to this process reminded me why this round table has mattered for so long within ALA.
I also want to say something personal. I am genuinely happy to still be with SRRT. In a moment when so much within our association feels managed, compressed, or narrowed, SRRT continues to be a space of principled engagement, democratic deliberation, and moral seriousness. That matters to me. It has always mattered.
The passage of these resolutions affirms that our work connects librarianship to the broader civic and human realities that shape the lives of the communities we serve. It affirms that SRRT remains willing to speak with clarity when fundamental rights, access to information, and democratic participation are at stake.
Thank you for the solidarity, the rigor, and the trust. I am proud of what we did together.
In solidarity,
Mark Rosenzweig
