The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Hi SRRT Community--sharing the below request on behalf of the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy. Please follow up directly with Anthony if interested in participating:

    Dear ALA colleagues,

My name is Anthony Heck, and I am a master's student in the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy conducting research on LGBTQ+ materials in public libraries across New York State.

I am seeking a small number of library professionals with system-level or statewide perspectives who would be willing to participate in a 20–30 minute interview. The purpose of the study is to better understand how public libraries approach the development, management, and support of LGBTQ+ collections and related services across New York State.

Interviews will be conducted by Zoom or phone at a time convenient for participants. Participation is entirely voluntary. With permission, interviews will be audio recorded solely to ensure accuracy; otherwise, detailed notes will be taken.

If you are interested in participating or know someone who may be a good fit, I would be grateful if you would contact me at ash322@cornell.edu.

If you have questions about the study, please contact me, Anthony Heck, or my faculty advisor, Laurie Miller, at ljm44@cornell.edu. If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, you may contact the Cornell University Institutional Review Board for Human Participants at 607-255-5138 or visit www.irb.cornell.edu. Concerns may also be reported anonymously through Ethicspoint at www.hotline.cornell.edu or by calling 1-866-293-3077.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I appreciate your support of this research.

    Sincerely,

    Anthony Heck
