SRRT (Social Responsibilities Round Table)

The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hello everyone,
I hope you can join us for this free listening session related to membership in ALA and SRRT. We'd love to hear your thoughts! Julie
    Event Title: SRRT Listening Session
    Description:
The Social Responsibility Round Table invites members and non-members to a listening session to share their experiences, questions, concerns, and suggestions on feeling included in the American Library Association (ALA) and the Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT). We especially wish to hear your thoughts and feelings related to conferences and membership. Do you feel left out of ALA and SRRT, as if your presence and input aren't necessary or needed? Are there barriers to your participation that you'd like to see addressed? What actions would you like to see taken to ensure ALA and SRRT are accessible to everyone? Please join us as we explore these questions and more about creating an ALA that is for all library workers. We hope to raise your questions, concerns, and suggestions with the ALA and SRRT leadership teams after the event.
Please note: Automatic Zoom captioning will be available for this event. If you require any additional accessible services to fully participate in this program, please reach out at least three (3) business days in advance with specific details regarding your request. You can email us at HPearson@Ala.org or call us at 312.280.5020, and please include contact information for us to follow up needed.
