The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hi SRRT Community,

Reminder: On August 1, 2024, an updated Online Code of Conduct Will was released.

The Online Code of Conduct was designed to build and sustain an open, inclusive, and collaborative experience for participants on all online platforms used by ALA and replaced the many policies/guidelines that were previously used across the organization.

The following changes were made to the updates in the Online Code of Conduct:

Adds language that reinforces a successful, respectful, and safe community by discouraging members from intentionally sharing content outside of ALA Connect for retaliatory purposes.

Addresses Member concerns surrounding Transparency by clearly displaying links to Moderation types, ALA Connect Transparency Reports, and ALA Connect Moderation Policies and Procedures.

If you have any questions about the new Online Code of Conduct, please feel free to reach out to the ALA Connect Community Manager, Cory Stevenson, at cstevenson@ala.org.
