The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone who participated in Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) and the Rainbow Round Table's (RRT) co-sponsered event, Pride and Protection: Queer Library Workers in a Polarized Cultural Landscape!

Don't worry if you missed out! All of the videos and the slides have been uploaded to the event page (https://www.ala.org/srrt/events/prideandprotection). You can also view our Pride and Protection YouTube Playlist

While the presentations are full of queer joy, there are two trigger warnings you should be aware of:
    • One of the case studies discussed in the Queer Library Workers During the Culture Wars presentation is about a library worker being physically assaulted.
    • The Queer and Present Danger presentation includes screenshots of false accusations of grooming that the presenter has received.
