Please come to the second NYC Public Library People's Assembly! This event is on Saturday, October 4th from 12:45–4:30pm at the New York Society for Ethical Culture in Manhattan [2 West 64th St.] with lunch provided starting at 12:00pm. This is a people-powered convening where we'll focus on answering the question: How can you take measurable and material action to protect and enhance our libraries?
Spanish interpretation and childcare can be made available if you email nycplan2025@gmail.com by September 26.
The event will begin with a brief teach-in on public library funding in NYC, followed by a panel discussion bringing together diverse perspectives on NYC libraries, their funding needs, and the fights to secure that funding. The panel will feature a City Council Member, union leader, library worker, and a library patron. The heart of the event is breakout discussions, where small groups will have the chance to dive deeper into the central question: What actions can you take to enhance and protect our libraries? This is an opportunity to share ideas and priorities directly with library patrons, workers, and other community members.
Please RSVP here if you can make it: https://nycplanpeoplesassembly.eventbrite.com
