The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Kathleen,

Our October issue of the SRRT Newsletter will be on labor and unions. We haven't put the call out yet, but would you be interested in writing something?

    Hi April,

I've been part of the volunteer team that produces Union Library Workers, the PLG blog.

For many years in Progressive Librarian, we had regular summaries of the year in library union activities.

Progressive Librarian suspended publication in 2021 and the last union roundup by Craig M. Guild was for 2019-2020 on pp. 110-165 at the Open Access Progressive Librarian website:

If you like I could summarize the 20 years of PLG's Union Library Worker blog.  PLG has had over 1800 posts on library unions viewed by 230,000 people. It would be wonderful if SRRT would do this as we (PLG) have no outlet for a 2021-2023 summary of events in Library Labor.

There is minimal union news in ALA publications, but PLG's Union Library Workers is free for anyone to review.

    Thank you for your interest.
