The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Dear Librarian Colleagues:

In order to promote an appreciation of world literature and cultivate global solidarity within the general public in the U.S., members of PEN America's Translation Committee are offering to speak at public libraries. Our members offer presentations on various topics related to the books which they have translated or the cultures/nations in which they specialize. These presentations can be made via Zoom or in person.   Below is the list of speakers and books/topics with contact information for each speaker.

This project can be a great opportunity for adult, young adult and children's librarians who want to expose patrons of various ages to international literature and promote global awareness.
