The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

My photos are not the best, but you’ll get an idea of the large and noisy United Here hotel workers picket line that some of us joined on Sunday. It was in front of the Hilton Garden Inn. I counted about 40 librarians there, and union members were glad to have us. They are fighting for a new contract. It felt good to be on the picket line during this age of Trump! Thanks to Mark Hudson for posting this widely and getting librarians out! Ann Sparanese
