The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Are you ready to make a difference in the library community? Now is the time to step up and consider running for office in the American Library Association (ALA)! The ALA Nominating committee is seeking candidates for the 2025-2026 ALA President and 2024-2027 Councilors-at-Large.

    On Thursday, August 3rd, the ALA Nominating committee hosted an online open house which covered the role and responsibilities of an elected leader, an overview of the nomination process, and an interactive Q&A segment.  The recording of this webinar is now available and can be found on the ALA Election Information webpage, along with additional information about the elections process.

    If you are interested in becoming the 2025-2026 ALA President or a 2024-2027 Councilor at Large, please complete the candidate biographical form found here by September 30th, 2023. 

    Eligible ALA members will vote in the 2024 ALA elections taking place March 11-April 3, 2024. Newly elected leaders officially begin their term after the 2024 ALA Annual Conference in San Diego, June 27-July 2, 2024.
