The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Please congratulate and say thanks to the new Action Council officers:

    • April Sheppard, Coordinator
    • Mark Winston, Coordinator-Elect
    • Wendy Stephens, Treasurer
    • Marna Clowney-Robinson, Recording Secretary
    • Mark Winston and Gary Colmenar, Membership Committee Co-Chairs
    • Tara Brady continues as SRRT Councilor

This is a really exceptional leadership group for SRRT, and I look forward to doing all I can to help them with more SRRT activism and more work aligned with our foundational belief that libraries and library workers must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out our mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.
