SRRT (Social Responsibilities Round Table)

The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hi All,

    On Monday, April 28th, in recognition of Autism Awareness Month, ALA invites you to a virtual program to learn how libraries can support coworkers and patrons on the autism spectrum. The program will be a moderated conversation. 

    Panelists:

    • Temple Grandin, Autism expert and author (Thinking in Pictures, The Autistic Brain) and Professor of Animal Science, Colorado State University 
    • Cindy Hohl, President, American Library Association
    • Mychal Threets, Librarian/Information Ambassador
    • Moderator: Sally Stieglitz, Communications & Outreach Coordinator, Long Island Library Resources Council
