The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Come celebrate May Day with Progressive Labor Party (plp.org). May Day is the time to celebrate the unity and victories of the international working class-that's us. Many groups are rallying on May 1 demanding reforms; we rally for communism and an end to capitalism, not just Trump. The attached flyer has info on its history and themes.

    We will host a May Day dinner on May 3rd with a program that includes poetry, and reports on police brutality, East Africa, schools, and the fight against fascism and wars.
