The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Hello, if anyone has the energy/time,  my library system is designing a role to help implement trauma-informed library service practices (Community Resources Role) in our branches and we are looking for conversations with experienced people.

We would appreciate any perspectives! Our list of questions includes:
Why can we find solid policies/procedures to inform our work?
Is there a recommended reading list for starting this work?
Who has the best trauma-informed library services training?
KPIs/Metrics: is there an industry standard for evaluating this type of work?
How do we explain the privacy thing to our Marketing Dept?
What are the haters going to hit us with?

Even if you can only help with one question or a question that is not on this list, please reach out. We watched the webinars and review the libguides,  they were great!

Please email me at mperry@mymcpl.org if you can spare 45 minutes to chat about this topic.
