The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    2:00 PM Eastern Time (1:00 PM Central, 12:00 Noon Mountain, 11:00  AM Pacific)

    The ALA International Responsibilities Task Force (IRTF) and Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) are co-sponsoring an informational webinar on Iran. This webinar is planned for librarians engaged in collection development, public programming, or instructional collaboration. Anyone wanting to learn more about Iran is also welcome to attend. A panel of three experts on Iran will:

        * Situate contemporary tensions within longer historical arcs
        * Recognize Indigenous histories and intellectual traditions
        * Incorporate cultural production as central to understanding

    A resource list will also be provided to support librarians, educators, and program organizers seeking historically grounded, politically literate, and culturally informed materials on Iran.
