The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

SRRT's International Responsibilities Task Force (IRTF) has a total of 14 members subscribed on ALA Connect, not including ALA staff admins. Our co-chairs are Mark Rosenzweig and Mark Hudson.

On March 11 the IRTF and SRRT Programming Committee co-sponsored Introduction to Iran, An Informational Webinar with three panelists: Frieda Afary, SRRT member and socialist-feminist scholar; Lily Alavi, scholar of Persian literature and language; and Amir Soltani, writer, activist, filmmaker, and author of Zahra's Paradise.

The webinar was organized and moderated by IRTF member Polly Parkinson. It's a beautiful and informative conversation that illuminates many facets of Iranian society, culture, politics and history. The webinar video is available for viewing on the SRRT Events page at https://www.ala.org/srrt/events.

Also available on the SRRT Events page is a resource list created by IRTF members Mark Rosenzweig and Polly Parkinson to support librarians, educators, and program organizers seeking historically grounded, politically literate, and culturally informed materials on Iran. It includes ideas for book groups.

IRTF looks forward to creating more webinars, resource lists and other educational resources in the coming months and years.
