The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Posted Sep 27, 2024 11:15 AM

    Hi everyone,

After much uncertainty and discussion on scheduling for SRRT Action Council meeting for this year, we've finally settled on a schedule for this year. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that may have arisen as a result of all the back & forth.

For this year, we will alternate SRRT Action Council meetings between:

First Monday of the month at 1 PM Eastern (2 PM Atlantic / 12 PM Central / 11 AM Mountain / 10 AM Pacific)

         And

Second Wednesday of the month at 12:30 PM Eastern (1:30 PM Atlantic / 11:30 AM Central / 10:30 AM Mountain / 9:30 AM Pacific)

Since we last met on the 1st Monday of September, our next meeting will be Wed. October 9th, which is the 2nd Wednesday of the month. The meeting will take place at 12:30 PM Eastern (1:30 PM Atlantic / 11:30 AM Central / 10:30 AM Mountain / 9:30 AM Pacific).

Please send me any agenda items you'd like to discuss at the next meeting by end of day Thurs. October 3rd. I will send out the meeting agenda and Zoom link soon thereafter, prior to the meeting.

Remember, any SRRT member is invited and encouraged to attend SRRT Action Council meetings! Only Action Council members may vote, but generally discussion is open to all attendees, and we value your participation. SRRT always welcomes new member voices, and as one of ALA's largest round tables, there are lots of great ways to get involved here!

If you have any questions, or again, any agenda items to add, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Thank you, and I hope you have a great weekend,

    Olivia

Thanks Olivia. We should discuss the drop in student membership due to the difficulty of finding the free coupon and what to do about it.
