The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

  • 1.  IFC Report

We had our first IFC meeting. I brought forth two things from SRRT:
-the new online code of conduct and and the possibility of convening a special meeting to address the revised resolution (as IFC did not have a quorum at annual)

IFC has not discussed the new code and agrees that we should bring that up for discussion as well as the revised resolution.

They need SRRT to put for a proposal for them to vote on at our next meeting in September. It will be on September 9.

Also, there were three people in attendance who are working on issues like the new ALA code of conduct. Here are their names:
He is working on the ALA website revisions.

    Sarah Lamdan, OIF
    AND
Rhonda Huisman, who also shared that ALA Connect is moderated by humans and that they vote before they take anything down.

SRRT is being asked to post our proposal on ALA Connect so that they can address our concerns at the September 9 meeting.
