The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

For those interested in year by year round table membership statistics since 2003, Hilary Person, our ALA staff liaison, shared the chart linked below.

    "I'm
xlsx icon.png sharing this chart which is a quarterly Membership Summaries from our membership team.   It shows historical RT membership stats.  This will be updated on a quarterly basis when our team sends membership summaries."

For SRRT, you will see a highpoint of 2421 members in 2007, a low point of 785 in 2014, a resurgence to 1998 in 2021and the current number of 1029 as of November 30th. Let me note that the resurgence in 2021 actually reached 2069 in March of that year.
