The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

  • 1.  Health Equity summit AND May 27 AC meeting tentative draft agenda & call for items

    Posted 21 hours ago

Hello all, and happy almost summer!

Before we get to this month's draft Action Council agenda...

🌟🌟🌟Big kudos to SRRT's Programming Committee on last month's Health Equity in Action virtual summit - a roaring success by all counts! If you'd like to catch up, or refresh yourself, on some of the incredibly thoughtful, meaningful discussions that took place, please take your time exploring all of the recordings, slides, and other resources our presenters have generously provided, by visiting our dedicated Health Equity summit webpage.

Our next Action Council meeting is coming up next Wednesday, May 27 at 2:00 PM Atlantic / 1:00 PM Eastern / 12:00 PM Central / 11:00 AM Mountain / 10:00 AM Pacific. We hope you can join us!

*** REMINDER: Due to consistent meeting time constraints, and in the interest of keeping Action Council meetings action-oriented, all task forces, committees, and liaisons are requested to please submit a written report to the co-coordinators for inclusion with the final agenda. Time permitting, attendees will be able to ask clarifying questions about a given report, as long as the appropriate representative is present.

If you have any other agenda items you'd like to be included, please send them to the co-coordinators ASAP, no later than Sunday, March 22 by 12 PM CentralNote: As is often the case, given the already-robust list of items for action and discussion, we may have limited time for less time-sensitive items.

The TENTATIVE DRAFT agenda for the May Action Council meeting is linked here.  (Agenda is subject to change prior to the meeting, and will be finalized pending a vote at the beginning of the meeting.)

This meeting will be recorded, per members' request. Access to the recording will be available by request only (email the co-coordinators for the link & password). The recording will be deleted after 1 month. These steps are being taken to balance access with privacy due to the potentially sensitive nature of discussions.

    Hi Olivia,

I'd like to add to the agenda that we discuss the SRRT Connect privacy settings. I had this on the agenda for the April meeting but wasn't able to attend. I don't have much to say about it, just that I want to request that we change the privacy settings so that you have to be logged into Connect to access the messages. Currently a person (or a web search engine) can access everything without being logged in.
