The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Good morning SRRT members!

Three SRRT Resolutions were voted on at Council yesterday. Here's a summary of the outcomes:

We also have the Continuing Virtual Access to ALA Memebership Meeting resolution that was passed at Membership but hasn't been voted on by Council yet. We also submitted a Resolution on Body Autonomy, Equity and ALA Conference Sites that calls on ALA not to hold conferences in states that limit reproductive rights (with the understanding that some contracts have already been signed and some conferences are not financially feasible to pull out of). I believe this resolution will be discussed Monday.

Thanks, April, for keeping us updated on what's happening - I really appreciate it.
Do you have any idea when the membership one will be discussed at Council?

Pretty sure the Resolution on Continuing Virtual Access to ALA Membership Meetings (CD#59) was referred to the Budget Analysis and Review Committee, which was not unexpected.
