The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Just a quick review of how our Afternoon of Social Justice event earlier this week:

Both events had over 200 people register with several more asking if the recording will be made available at a later date (they will be). We had a little bit of sound issue at the beginning of the pre-recorded video for the Paying Better Attention to Indigenous Communities session that we were able to sort out. I'm hoping to get out the better version of that video. Other than that, there were no other issues that I am aware of.

    Feedback has been very positive.

Both speakers for the Disability is not a Bad Word sessions are interested in trying their presentation at a future time. They were very apologetic for not making it. I also have two other speakers interested in future presentations. So, we either have a head start on next summer or we could potentially plan for something after LibLearnX.
